Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep

Schoolhouse Arts Center at Sebago Lake will present the Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, written and directed by Jerry Walker, from April 10-13. Raw, funny, painful and nostalgic, Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep is a powerful reminder of what it's like to be a teenager. They are called the best four years of our lives. . . and they are. Memories made in high school range from that first magical kiss to the last dance at junior prom; but high school isn't just dreamy-eyed romance. That four-year trek is also fraught with uncertainty, betrayal, danger, stress, love, hate, and fear. Although times have changed, the basic stories remain the same. Even if high school is but a distant dream now; you too will lose yourself in the flood of emotions, memories, and the honest storytelling of Jerry Walker's Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. This one-act play was written and directed by longtime high school teacher Jerry Walker, who has captured haunting echoes of former students in a series of poignant vignettes - bullets of universal truth - that highlight every adolescent's need for supportive family and friends.

Nearly 30 young actors from eight southern Maine high schools breathe life into characters who struggle with everything from low self-esteem to unwanted pregnancy as well as those who revel in good friendships and school success. The cast includes Lynne Schabhetl from Bridgton; Catherine Mason from Buxton; Shannon Brenner from Casco; Andrew Deal from Cornish; John Roberts from Falmouth; Adam Mosey, Shannon Mosey, Molly Stewart, and Clara Stickney from Gorham; Anna Berks, Liz Parmenter, Ben Plummer, Jacob Plummer, and Becca Voinche from Limington; Sydney Walker from Naples; Jordan Holmes from New Gloucester; Calvin Moisan from Raymond; Sara Dodge and Samantha Komulainen-York from Standish; Ryan Biggs from Steep Falls; and Joanna Clark, Shane Giles, Austin Loukas, Ben Robinson, Alison Sample, and Jessica Wood from Windham.
