Dear Friends,
The year 2011 marked Schoolhouse's 23rd anniversary as a community
theater. Over the last 23 years, many of you have attended or
taken part in our theater productions or educational programs.
It is the involvement of community members like you that have
helped to make Schoolhouse the organization that it is today.
The mission of Schoolhouse Arts Center is to bring to the community
a fun, creative, educational, and supportive arts environment
where people can grow, develop skills, and be involved in the
arts. Over the past year, that mission provided performances for
over 2500 theater patrons, arts education programs for over 250
students, and an opportunity for over 150 people to share their
art either on-stage, backstage, on the set, in the classroom,
or in any number of supporting roles from working the box office
to hanging lights. You are part of this community at Schoolhouse
and understand the importance of our mission at a time when many
theaters are struggling to keep the doors open.
This year the Board of Directors of Schoolhouse Arts Center made
a commitment to keep Schoolhouse open despite the staggering bills
and high cost of building upkeep and utilities. This commitment
came with several attempts to bring people and more funds into
the organization itself. In 2011, Schoolhouse increased the size
of the board of directors from five to twelve, produced six main
stage shows rather than theusual four, started a six-week outdoor
concert series, added an additional musical theater camp to our
educational programs, and held a number of fundraising activities
including the Truly Talented Kids Show, a giant yard sale, and
a Chili/Chowder Challenge and Silent Auction. There is still much
work to be done, but we are confident that we are heading in the
right direction.
And, this is where we need your help. Please keep the mission
of Schoolhouse alive by returning the enclosed form with your
tax-deductible annual fund membership donation today. No gift
is too small!
With heartfelt thanks,
The Schoolhouse Arts Center Board of Directors
